Leadership transition in the USA

CEO Katharina Schmitz will leave Doppelmayr USA and hand over to Keith Johns on 31 March 2025.

Created by TS

Katharina Schmitz has been with Doppelmayr USA since 2018 and took over as CEO in April 2020. Under her leadership, the company has experienced significant growth, particularly in the wake of the pandemic with the recovery of the ski industry. Schmitz has overseen a rapid expansion of Doppelmayr USA and a record number of completed projects, including several Premium D-Line ropeways.

"It has been an incredible honor to lead Doppelmayr USA during such a dynamic period," said Ms. Schmitz. "I am immensely proud of our team’s achievements and the positive impact our projects have on communities and resorts nationwide. I am confident the company’s strong foundation will support continued success and innovation."

The new CEO is already here

Keith Johns will take over the role of CEO on 1 April 2025. Since joining Doppelmayr USA in 2021, Johns has proven himself to be a dedicated leader and key performer, as emphasized by Doppelmayr USA. His background includes executive leadership, strategic project management, and the ability to unite teams across disciplines to achieve ambitious goals.

Prior to joining Doppelmayr USA, Keith Johns honed his leadership skills across various engineering, construction, and project management roles. As acting CEO at an energy technology company, he oversaw strategic direction and complex operational initiatives. His expertise in stakeholder relations, process improvement, and technical problem-solving will serve Doppelmayr well in this next chapter.

Years of success in the USA

In recent years, Doppelmayr USA has completed several consecutive construction seasons with record numbers, including well-known projects such as the Big Sky Lone Peak Tram, the Sterling Vineyards D-Line and the Deer Valley expansion. The cornerstone for the company's further development is the construction of a new, state-of-the-art headquarters, for which the ground-breaking ceremony will take place in the spring. The new headquarters will combine advanced production facilities, modern warehousing and innovative office concepts.
