New ropeways

State-of-the-art technology and design standards at Interalpin

Numerous product highlights, an exclusive launch event, and a trade fair appearance in a new design characterize Leitner's presence at Interalpin.

At this year's Interalpin, cable car manufacturer Leitner will once again showcase its position as one of the innovation leaders in technology and design. Years of intensive investment in research and development will result in a range of groundbreaking products for the future of sustainable mobility in 2025. This will be evident at Interalpin, where the company will present a new standard for monorail cable cars, among other things. In addition to this launch event, visitors to the completely redesigned exhibition stand in Innsbruck can look forward to lots more news from Leitner.

Launch event for single-cable gondola lift

“We are delighted to be able to present the results of our intensive innovation and development work over the past 18 months to our customers, industry experts, and all interested parties at Interalpin 2025. We are introducing an optimized single-cable gondola lift that will set new standards in noise reduction, maintenance, occupational safety, and efficiency for the entire ropeway industry.” With these words, Martin Leitner, CEO of Leitner AG, underscores the company's high standards and its commitment to further consolidating its role as a leading manufacturer of ropeway systems. The launch event will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at the Leitner booth D06 in Hall D.

Focus on urban ropeways

Another focus at this year's Interalpin will be urban ropeway solutions in the context of global mobility challenges. As part of the Inspiration Days organized by Messe Innsbruck, Leitner, as a partner of this format, will showcase its expertise in the field of urban ropeways using the example of the ropeway project in Trieste and present its capabilities in the realization of further urban installations around the globe.

ConnX for urban ropeway systems

In keeping with this theme, Leitner will also be presenting its hybrid solution ConnX for the first time at Interalpin. The system, developed and patented by Leitner, is based on a detachable gondola lift in which the gondola is transferred to a ground-based vehicle in the station, which then continues on its own track on wheels. This allows the gondola lift to overcome any topographical or structural obstacles, while the ConnX “dual solution” is also an attractive option for urban areas where a continuous cable car system cannot be implemented for a variety of reasons. At Interalpin, visitors will be able to experience and walk through the latest generation of the vehicle with a premium Diamond EVO cabin featuring urban amenities for the first time.

LeitPilot

At Interalpin, Leitner will also present its pioneering LeitPilot technology, which enables autonomous cable car operation for gondola lifts. The system, which can be integrated into new and existing installations, is based on real-time monitoring in the entry and exit areas of the stations, thus creating an essential prerequisite for autonomous station operation. This is made possible by the use of state-of-the-art safety technology, such as advanced LIDAR sensors for monitoring the vehicle pit, which serve as a smart basis for unmanned operation.

3S Symphony cabin

The large 3S Symphony cabin designed by Pininfarina will also be a real eye-catcher at the Leitner exhibition stand. It was also the central element of one of Leitner's most spectacular projects in recent years: the Alpine Crossing on Switzerland's Matterhorn. Since summer 2023, the 3S Matterhorn Glacier Ride II has connected the Klein Matterhorn mountain station at 3,883 m above sea level with the Testa Grigia valley station (3,458 m above sea level) in Italy, thus forming the highest border crossing in the Alps together with the Matterhorn Glacier Ride I. Another highlight at the Leitner stand is the presentation of the in-house developed 2S system, which combines the most important strengths of single-cable and three-cable technology. In Innsbruck, Leitner is presenting this double-cable gondola system together with the Symphony 10 cabin in Pininfarina design, complete with 2S running gear.

Trade fair appearance in a new design

At its newly designed trade fair stand, Leitner will focus on the wide range of applications for its systems for year-round operation and on the maintenance and service advantages for optimum support of ongoing operations. Among other things, the Leitner bike transport system will be presented at Interalpin using the example of a 6-seater chairlift. The solution, designed for gondola lifts and chairlifts, impresses with its simple installation and safe transport of bicycles without any loss of transport capacity. Leitner is also dedicating a separate area of the trade fair stand to customer service and the services offered by the competence center in Leini (Turin), using the example of a refurbished and a non-refurbished grip. The web shop for spare parts will also be presented in this area.

All of the highlights and exhibits mentioned above will be presented and displayed at a completely redesigned trade fair stand this year. This makes the anticipation even greater this year, concludes Martin Leitner: “With numerous content and technical innovations as well as our new trade fair stand, we are particularly looking forward to welcoming our customers, partners, and companions to Interalpin this year.”
