Bilexa AG was founded in Zurich by Hermann Altmann in 1969 and was initially active in the field of ticket sales and validation systems for public transport operators. The company’s name is actually a combination of the Swiss word for a ticket (“billet”) and the equipment brand name Almex. Following the establishment of an Austrian subsidiary in 1970, Bilexa extended its product portfolio and started to supply leisure amenities like swimming pools and winter sports facilities in 1972. As a next logical step, the traditional Swiss company also introduced car parking management systems. Since 1981 Bilexa has developed a growing specialization in the field of security systems, starting with pressure-sensitive mats for switching bus and train doors followed by CCTV systems, which have now developed into a high-volume field of business.
Customer benefits and handshake trust
Since 2009 the family business, with its facilities in Switzerland and Austria, has been successfully managed in the second generation by Simon and Daniel Altmann. For the brothers, tradition and modernity are two sides of the same coin. The two experts study the national and international markets very carefully and react fast and flexibly to new developments – with the backing of long years of experience and their wide-ranging industry competence. The Altmann brothers explain: “In our work we never lose sight of the benefits to the customer in the individual case. Trust based on the traditional handshake is more than a buzzword for us; it is something we live for. It also includes such things as punctuality, a customer focus and the very best product and service.” The company’s main markets are Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France and Slovakia, although Bilexa AG also wants to gain a stronger foothold in the future in the USA, Eastern Europe and Russia.
